Ho Chi Minh City Open University Welcomes Professors and Students from Monash University, Australia, and Hosts a Seminar on Climate Action

To strengthen the cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City Open University and international universities, as well as to encourage more international students to visit, explore, and engage in cultural exchanges between Vietnam and other countries and continue to enhance its global ranking in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) related to climate change. On the morning of January 16, 2025, at the university’s traditional hall, located at 97 Vo Van Tan Street, District 3, HCMCOU had the honour of welcoming a delegation of professors and students from Monash University, Australia, and hosted a seminar on the topic of Climate Action.

 

Event Overview

Participants of the event included: From Ho Chi Minh City Open University: MSc. Le Khoa Nguyen – Director of the Research and Development Center; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bao Quoc – Speaker of the program. From Monash University: Assoc. Prof. Paul Kalfadellis – Faculty of Management, Business and Economics; Dr. Alison Beamish – Faculty of Business and Economics. Along with students from both universities

As part of the event, Ho Chi Minh City Open University organised a seminar on Climate Action, where speaker Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bao Quoc shared key insights on the current state of Vietnamese agriculture and climate change's direct and indirect impacts on agriculture, fisheries, and the livelihoods of people in the Mekong River region.

 

Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bao Quoc discussed various solutions, policies, and initiatives that Vietnam has been implementing to combat climate change, including emission reduction strategies and the promotion of renewable energy.

Following the seminar, the delegation of professors and students from Monash University had the opportunity to visit and explore the university’s facilities at 97 Vo Van Tan, District 3.
