Among the 11 subjects ranked by the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Open University is honored to be one of the six higher education institutions in Vietnam to make a strong impression on the international stage by ranking in the top 801+ in  Economics and Business. This achievement is a testament to the university's strong development in education and research quality, reaffirming its position in the global academic community.

For this ranking cycle, THE introduced a new set of 18 evaluation criteria, adjusted to suit different academic fields and categorized into five main areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook. Among these, Ho Chi Minh City Open University received the highest recognition in the Research Quality category, highlighting its faculty and students' strong research capabilities and high-quality training.
 

In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City Open University has consistently ranked among the top 10 universities in Vietnam for scientific research achievements, as recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training, both in terms of quantity and quality of student research projects. The university's research topics are diverse, with a strong focus on practical applications that address real-world issues. From institutional and ministerial-level projects to prestigious academic awards, the university has continuously reinforced its role in scientific research. Additionally, the university has actively fostered an effective research environment, providing optimal conditions for scientific projects and innovation.

The university's teaching quality is highly regarded, thanks to its experienced faculty and advanced curriculum that aligns with international trends. HCMC Open University achieved institutional accreditation in 2017 and completed its second accreditation cycle in 2023, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining high educational standards. In terms of program accreditation, the university currently has 36 accredited academic programs, meeting standards such as FIBAA, AUN-QA, and MOET.
 

With a mission to promote open education and ensure equal access to higher education through flexible, convenient, and effective learning methods, Ho Chi Minh City Open University continually expands its international collaborations in training, scientific research, faculty-student exchanges, and internships.
