To help students access recruitment criteria, labor market demands, and employment information, as well as equip them with knowledge and professional expertise to enhance job opportunities at reputable domestic and international enterprises, Ho Chi Minh City Open University organized the 7th Internship and Part-time Job Fair of 2024 in the morning of December 15, 2024, at the 97 Vo Van Tan Campus in District 3.

The event was attended by Dr. Le Nguyen Quoc Khang – President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, leaders of various university departments, representatives from 25 enterprises, and over 800 students interested in this fair.

Overview of the events

In his opening speech, Dr. Le Nguyen Quoc Khang - Vice President emphasized: "The university considers diverse collaborations with enterprises in career orientation and job counseling as an essential part of its mission and vision to provide practical-oriented education. This also offers students a platform to gain experience and hands-on practice while still in school. Over the past 7 years, this event has attracted the participation of 220 enterprises, providing over 6,500 part-time and internship opportunities for students."

As part of the program, recruiters conducted career counseling sessions and direct interviews to identify young, dynamic, and highly skilled candidates who meet their hiring needs.

Phan Thi Nhu Em, a student from the 2022 cohort of the Faculty of Sociology – Social Work – Southeast Asian Studies shared her thoughts: "Participating in the Internship and Part-time Job Fair organized by the university has been an incredibly valuable and meaningful experience for me. At the event, I had the opportunity to meet and directly interact with recruiters from various companies. Through these interactions, I gained a better understanding of actual job requirements, learned how to craft a professional CV, and how to prepare myself for job interviews. The fair not only helped me gain a clearer career direction but also opened doors for personal growth and learning. I hope the university will continue to organize more events like this to support students in their academic and career journeys."

According to statistics, over 93% of graduates from Ho Chi Minh City Open University secure employment within 12 months of graduation, with a high percentage of students working in jobs directly related to their fields of study. This serves as proof of the effectiveness of the university’s enterprise connections, career orientation, and job counseling activities as well as the high quality of its trained workforce.
